The gigant from Jack and the beanstalk
Beanstalk Costume Q&A
need to make a giants costume for a pantomime (jack and the beanstalk) any ideas ?
It's not as hard as you think. Go to a thrift shop and get the biggest clothes you can. Pad it out with foam pillows or foam bed bumpies. That way you can still move. Get a cheap wig to make the scraggly hair and beard. Look at pictures of story book giants and embellish it from there. You will need a large pair of gloves to give the illusion of bigger hands. Get a pair of over-sized rubber boots to hide your feet. Practice wearing it and getting used to being larger than usual. When broken down to his elements, a giant is easier to build than any other fictional character. Here's a picture of Hagrid from Harry Potter:

Royalty-Free Plays for Small Cast?
I just started an amateur theater group in March (for a small performing arts school) that does/will do one play workshop 1-2 times a year. We had just finished Jack and the Beanstalk. The girls in the cast want to do the 12 Dancing Princesses, but we don't have enough people. We have 3 boys and 5 girls, ages range 6-16. Any suggestions for Royalty-Free plays or ideas to write our own play? We don't have any budget to pay for rights for plays (we have barely enough to pay for sets and buy materials to find or sew costumes).
I applaud your efforts in creating a theatre! Try samuelfrench.com and see what they may have. Also do a web search for non royalty plays. You could do the Pyramus and Thisbe scene from Midsummer Nights Dream.
